Come meet Santa at Toitoi!

santa Toitoi MyHastings Dec2022

Toitoi – Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre has a special guest in the house, waiting to welcome visitors and spread the Christmas cheer.

Local whānau can come meet Santa on Thursday and Friday evenings and Saturdays in December, in his grotto, which will be set up in the Tama Tūranga Huata room, in Toitoi’s Municipal Building. (Note he is taking a break on December 15 to nip back to the North Pole and check on the elves).

Write and post your letters to Santa (either in English or te reo Māori), pop a gift under the Giving Tree for Women’s Refuge, meet the big man and have a photo with him in Santa’s Grotto, before he takes off to deliver treats to all the tamariki around Aotearoa. You can either take your photos on your phone, or get a polaroid snap for a koha.

Hana Koko is also welcoming tamariki and whānau to his low-sensory grotto, with no music and low lights, from 4pm till 7pm on Monday, December 12. Sensory-sensitive tamariki and whānau can also book a crowd-free spot with Santa from 10am till 2pm on Mondays, December 5 and 12.

Santa will be in his Grotto at Toitoi on Thursdays and Fridays in December. From 4pm till 7pm; and on Saturday, Dec 3, 10, and 17 from 11am till 3pm. Entry is free and no booking is required for these times.

Bookings are essential for low-sensory sessions. For more information and to book, please phone 06 871 5289.
