Nine members of the Havelock North Village Lions Club took part in the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Clean Up Week, on Saturday morning (September 17).
They picked up rubbish along the six roads leading from the Village roundabout to the Village boundaries, said president Rae Povey.
"An amazing 15.5kg of rubbish was collected, and what could be was recycled. Included in the collection was over 500 cigarette butts."
This project was a LIons service to the community project.
