Waimarama fix before holidays

A solution to a seal issue on a section of Waimarama Rd is almost confirmed and work to fix it is expected to be completed before the summer school holidays start.

The steepness of the road combined with the angle of the corners on a couple of the bends near Waimarama Road Quarry Hill has seen the seal break up along two small sections.

In the meantime, temporary patching has been done today to smooth it out.

Hastings District Council acknowledged that getting the repairs done had taken longer than would normally be expected, however the roads team needed to be sure that the new seal on the corners would stand up to the stresses the combination of the slope and angle put it under.

A patch of uneven seal on Red Bridge is also being scheduled for resealing.
