Whakatu Arterial Link Update - 16 January 2017

This fortnightly update on the Whakatu Arterial Link route lets the public know how the project is going and what to expect to see over the next couple of weeks.

Unison and Higgins are on State Highway 2 site, near the Napier Rd intersection.

Unison is undergrounding cables for lighting around the new five-legged roundabout.  There  will be minor disruptions to the power supply on occasions and with the final connection and power change over to the new underground system this will result in a power shut down of up to six hours.  Unison will give two weeks notice to surrounding property owners ahead of this shut down.

Higgins will soon be working on an interim roundabout made up of plastic barriers, signs and cones which will assist with traffic control further into the project. We are not expecting any changes in road layout over this first two weeks.

Trucks moving fill will be the first particularly noticeable effect of the works. They will be on a circuit from the roundabout site, through Station Rd, to Pakowhai for the next four months. Hours of work are limited to 6am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, to limit any impact.

Other work of interest over the next fortnight will include:

•    Bulk Earthworks in the paddock between Pilcher Road and State Highway 2; and
•    The erection of a new road boundary fence line in the same area;

Anyone who is particularly impacted by these works will be individually contacted, however if you have questions please don’t hesitate to call the project managers: Leslie van Heerden phone 835 7288, or Louis Meyer, phone 835 7288, or phone Hastings District Council: 871 5000.
