The Hastings District Council Class 4 Gambling Venue Policy has a ‘cap’ approach to class 4 gambling whereby the Council will not grant consent where the total number of gaming machines in the Hastings District exceeds 293. The number of machines currently operating or licensed to operate within the Hastings District is 284 and therefore there is room under the cap for an additional 9 machines to be licensed and operated.
The Lion Foundation (2008) Ltd seek to provide 9 Class 4 Gaming Machines (Pokie Machines) at the Loading Ramp, 8 Treachers Lane, Havelock North.
The application does not meet Clause 6 (iv) and (vi) which state:
The Loading Ramp is located within 100 metres of the Havelock North Playcentre and Turk’s Bar which operates 18 Class 4 Gaming Machines and is also a TAB venue.
