What is it all about?
Hastings District Council has received requests from the community to review the speed limits on six different roads across the Hastings District.
The main reason for the residents’ requests is urban expansion – an increase in the number of driveways means they felt the existing speed limit was no longer appropriate. In addition, a number of requests have been submitted relating to the safety of some routes with a desire to reduce the speed limit to better match the road conditions.
As part of this speed limit review, Council is also consulting with the community on amendments to bylaws to better reflect the physical location of speed limit signs.
