Waste Management and Minimisation Plan 2018 -2024

Waste Management and Minimisation Plan 2018 -2024

WMMP FB POST SmallWhat is it all about?

Every six years, Hastings District Council and Napier City Council are required to review their objectives, policies and methods for achieving effective and efficient waste minimisation and management within the district. This Joint Waste Management and Minimisation Plan (2018-2024) must be finalized and adopted by 30 June 2018.

Did you know that nearly half of the 84,000 tonnes of waste that went to Omarunui Landfill last year was compostable and recyclable? This plan looks at reviewing how we manage waste so we can reduce unnecessary waste to Omarunui Landfill – starting with the kerbside, our transfer stations, and waste education.

What do you think?

The Councils are seeking public input and feedback on the proposals outlined in this plan. All feedback will be considered before final decisions are agreed upon by both Hastings District Council and Napier City Council.
