Response to COVID-19

Hastings District Council is committed to supporting the health and safety of all of our facilities users and staff. With this in mind we wanted to let you know about the actions we’re taking as part of our response to COVID-19.

As things currently stand, it is still business as usual, with a few changes. We have reviewed and updated the cleaning plans for our facilities to ensure they are cleaned with greater frequency and extra care – especially on high contact surfaces like EFTPOS pin pads, counters, door handles and bathroom taps.

We are closely monitoring the directives from the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board and Ministry of Health to ensure everyone is kept safe, so when you come into our facilities, you can expect to see:

• Staff following social distancing practices i.e. keeping a distance of 1m to reduce the potential for spittle to reach one another.
• Responsible coughing and sneezing etiquette i.e. coughing and sneezing into the crook of the elbow.
• Good hygiene practices with frequent hand washing.

We also need your support to keep our facilities safe. We ask that you continue to use good handwashing and hygiene procedures, good coughing and sneezing etiquette and refrain from coming to our facilities if you are feeling unwell.
