Rebuilding of Windsor Ave section

9 February 2018

The rebuilding of a 750-metre section of road on Windsor Ave, between Ada St and Grove Rd, will start on Monday (February 12). It is expected to take about 12 weeks to complete the project.

While the road is being rebuilt, the opportunity is being taken to upgrade wastewater and storm water systems, said Hastings District Council’s works and services committee chairman Kevin Watkins.

“The work we are doing along this stretch is related to the age of the road and underlying infrastructure. We have a programme that sees older sections of road upgraded over time. The timing is carefully planned to ensure we get maximum use out of the original asset, but replace it before ongoing maintenance costs outstrip the cost of rebuilding,” Mr Watkins said.

Residents along the stretch of road and roads feeding into Windsor Ave had been advised of the work by pamphlet delivery into their letterboxes. The contractors and Council would be working together to keep inconveniences to both road users and residents to a minimum, and would individually advise residents of any short disruptions to access to their properties.
