Topiary touch for Queen Street

13 April 2018

queen street green SmallThe classy new buxus topiary along Queen St complement the best of Hastings architecture and are adding a welcome dash of green.

“This street is within the heart of our business district and the addition of these stunning topiary helps us build towards our overarching vision of increasing vibrancy in our city centre,” said Hastings mayor Sandra Hazlehurst.

“The green is a wonderful complement to Queen St, which is a prime example of our beautiful heritage buildings.”

The new pots with their shaped shrubs were bolted into place yesterday. In-ground street trees could not be dug into the footpaths because of the number of services laid beneath the pavement.

Business feedback had been very positive.

Oh My Goodness owner Scott Wynands said the shrubs added a nice green touch. “It helps break up the tarmac and given the limitations because of the services, I think this is a very good option. The style of the pots and plants definitely goes with the buildings.”
