How do I arrange a building inspection?Me pēhea taku whakarite i tētahi mātaitanga hangatanga?

Make an appointment by contacting Council, as soon as you know when the work will be ready to be inspected.

We require a minimum of 24 hours notice. Please be aware that requests for exact inspection times and particular building officers cannot always be accommodated.

You will need to provide the following:

  • Building consent number
  • Site address
  • Type of inspection
  • Name and contact phone number of the person who will be on site at the time of the inspection
  • In the case of Restricted Building Work, the name and contact phone number of the Licensed Building Practitioner

Note: If it is more than six years since the issuing of your Building Consent then the inspection request will be referred to Council's building team leader inspections prior to any booking being confirmed.

Building consents processing during COVID-19 Level 4 alert

Hastings District Council will continue to process existing building consent applications and these will be issued to you in digital form once the invoice has been paid in full.

  • All new building consent applications will be accepted digitally.  This can be done by visiting the Hastings District Council website and clicking on the “Do It Online” tab at the top of this page. Under 'Consents' you will find 'Building Consent Application'.
  • There will be no building inspections until further notice.   
  • If an existing hard-copy packet has been paid for in full it can be issued in a digital form, if required
