Hastings District Council has prepared a variation to the Proposed Hastings District Plan which seeks to rezone some 21.2 hectares of land from Plains Production Zone to a General Residential Zone. This land is located between Howard Street and Havelock Road, and the Awahou Drain on the southern edge of Hastings city (next to Parkvale School).
The Howard Street Urban Development Area has been rezoned for residential development within the Hastings District Plan.
