Heritage trees
Trees and tree species are an important part of Hastings District’s heritage. Trees can be identified as having unique heritage value because of their historic importance, scientific interest and/or botanical rarity, importance of position in the landscape, size, age, form and condition, or functional value. Trees of outstanding heritage value have been identified under the Notable Trees Registration Scheme co-ordinated by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. For the complete list of Heritage Trees please visit the Outstanding Trees and Significant Trees sections of the Proposed Hastings District Plan.
