Heritage and Protected trees

Trees are critically important to our environment and much appreciated by residents.

Trees can be identified as having unique heritage value because of their historic importance, scientific interest and/or botanical rarity, importance of position in the landscape, size, age, form and condition, or functional value.

Trees of outstanding heritage value have been listed on the Notable Trees Registration Scheme co-ordinated by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture.

For the complete list of Heritage Trees see the Outstanding Trees (appendix 52) and Significant Trees (appendix 53) sections of the Proposed Hastings District Plan.
