Programme Community Advisory Group

A Programme Steering Group for the Havelock North Streams and Dams programme has been set up, with Havelock North community members.

The aim of the group is to reflect community aspirations and feedback as the strategy and works programme are developed for the betterment of the Havelock North dams and streams and residents

Members of the community come from different streams, including representation from the 2c area of the Managarau Stream. Council representatives on the group include an HDC councillor, senior managers and members of the project team.

Council expects the group to meet for the next couple of years are the programme is developed.

The group will be responsible for providing input into the development of the strategy, including reviewing and providing feedback from a community perspective on:

  • the Emergency Action Plan
  • development of designs, both along the Mangarau Stream for the recategorisation of 2c properties, and the other four streams for increased resilience of the area
  • property access rights and landowner responsibilities
  • a stormwater strategy
  • communications and engagement
  • development of a catchment management and asset management plan
  • other as required.
