Things are getting tasty at Hastings street party

Taste Hastings 22

Taste Hastings is back – and that means it’s party time in the East Block – with wine, food, live music and more.

Twenty-eight wineries are taking part in this year’s event on Friday, November 10, with the main action taking place on Heretaunga St East between Warren Street and Karamū Road.

Among other familiar names, you’ll find Squawking Magpie, Te Awanga Estate, Craggy Range, Helio Wines, Decibel Wines, Chateau Garage, Swift Wines, Collaboration Wines, Jenny Dobson Wines, and Ash Ridge.

Two of our famed local breweries will also be taking part – Giant and Brave.

To manage the hunger pangs, there’ll be a range of food trucks to suit everyone’s tastes - Fork and Noise, Gina’s, Holy Crêpe (sweet and savoury options) and Mac Daddy (mac n’ cheese).

If people want to make more of a night of it they can book into one of the great range of Hastings CBD eateries, and Rush Munro’s is also open to satisfy any ice cream cravings.

Live entertainment from local party band Naked Gun is on the menu, and DJ Soph will be spinning tunes in Landmarks Square.

And, there’s plenty of places to chill out in, thanks to the Flock Events Lounge.

Hastings District Council marketing and tourism lead Vicky Roebuck said Taste Hastings was an opportunity to get family and friends together to revel in the atmosphere – and also a great warm-up event for Robbie Williams at Mission Estate Winery the following two nights.

“We’re very excited for the Mission concerts, and on Friday there will be giveaways on the night, as well as photo opportunities with “Robbie” (the life-size cardboard cut-out that’s been featuring on social media recently).

“We are calling for all Robbie fans to come along and get in the mood at this epic street party that celebrates Hastings’ finest food, beer and wine.”

Running from 5.30pm to 8.30pm this Friday, November 10, entry to Taste Hastings is free with drink sales available by the taste or glass.

For $15 you get four tasting tokens and a glass to take home. Extra tokens are $2.50 each.

Purchase tokens on the day or beat the queues and secure them via tastehastings.co.nz.
