Held in 2022, The Big Apple Project was a hugely popular and stunning public art celebration of the local apple industry and Hawke's Bay artists.

A collaboration between Arts Inc Heretaunga and Studio Benega with core funding support from Hastings District Council, The Big Apple Project was a journey of discovery featuring the works of 20 local artists that were selected to participate.

The project transformed public spaces into a fun, free art gallery where followers could learn more about the important industry and the talented creatives that hail from Hawke's Bay, whilst experiencing the delights of our urban offerings. The big apples were on display from early August to late October.

All works were offered for sale at a public auction on 26 October during the 2022 Hawke's Bay Arts Festival, and all were sold raising about $200,000. The proceeds were shared between the artists and Arts Inc. Heretaunga.
