Hastings District Council will be undertaking significant road renewal works along the full length of Mount Erin Road (between Crystall Road and Te Aute Road). These upgrade works have been necessitated by the road’s deteriorating condition.
The works will be undertaken in two stages, with the first stage programmed to commence on 10 January with an estimated completion date of 31 May. Stage One begins at Crystall Road and extends for one kilometre (to approximately 69 Mount Erin Road). Stage Two will see the remainder of the road completed to Te Aute Road. Work on Stage Two is programmed to commence in September with completion set down for December.
The project will include earthworks and site clearance, pavement construction and chip sealing. Stage Two will also see improvements made to the Mount Erin Road/School Road and St Georges Road/Te Aute Road intersections. The project also involves the relocation of external services at the Te Aute Road/Mount Erin Road intersection. This is anticipated to happen in advance of the road upgrade works.
When the contractor establishes on site they will provide all residents with contact details for the site manager. Do not hesitate to contact them should you have any concerns or questions.
The road will remain open to traffic during construction with traffic management in place. Please follow directions from traffic management and contractor staff. If you have specific access requirements please discuss this with the contractor as they will be happy to help.
