Hire our venue

Hastings Sports Centre is a well-regarded facility for large corporate events, meetings, sporting events and national tournaments.  We have 2 separate spaces available for hire. Feel free to talk to us about what space will work best for your event.

Casual courts

Get out and play. Two full size courts available for casual play. No booking required. $3.00 per person. Monday 12:30pm-2:00pm, Tuesday and Wednesday 12.30pm – 2.30pm, Friday by arrangement. 

Main sports hall

Our sports hall is approximately 900m² (35.3m long x 27.4m wide), with wooden floor marked out with two courts for badminton, basketball, netball, volleyball and tennis (capacity 950). Ceiling height of the hall is 12m at apex, 7.5m at sides. Overlooking the courts are grandstand seating (capacity 275).

Bleacher Seating: Can be set up if needed at an extra cost. Available are four banks of five tier seating – approximately 45 people per unit. Floor space when set up is 3.4m x 4.7m approx.

Backyard: A grass area which may be used for outdoor activities. Free when booked with the Main Hall. Please make application to the Manager before use.

Function room

Our function room is approximately 130m², with a television, surround sound speakers and whiteboard for meetings. Currently with seating for 50 people (capacity 150), function room has 50 upholstered chairs and 10 tables for use. Kitchen is available for an additional hire charge. 

 Function Room Kitchen: Complete with Zip, fridge, oven and dishwasher. 

Extras

• Ticket office: If required, user responsibility to arrange security for cash takings.
• Chairs and tables: Available for separate hire are 200 event chairs and 20 portable trestle tables.
• Microphone and speaker: Available for hire.Bluetooth surround sound speakers are permanently fixed in the function room for free use.
• 3 phase power: Available for functions. Includes a Six point splitter box.
• Parking and accessibility: Parking for approximately 95 cars. The Hastings Sports Centre is fully accessible with a lift up to the first floor and a lift into the gym.

Tumbling Tots birthdays

Looking for a fun birthday party event for your child that burns lots of energy? Our tumbling tots birthday set-ups include balancing, climbing, tunnels and more.

Our experienced staff will work with you to make your child’s birthday a memorable event.

Birthdays are suitable for children aged 0-5 years - price on application, which includes staff set-up/pack down of equipment.

Space is also available to setup/hire a bouncy castle.
Availability of dates, times and what you are looking for, will be discussed on application.

How to book

You will need to fill out and sign an Application for Hireage form and return to the manager before your booking can be accepted. Without this the Hastings District Council is free to cancel any pencil bookings and re-allocate to another applicant. The form can be found in the 'related documents' section at the top of this page.

All hirers wishing to run an event at the Sports Centre must arrange a meeting with the centre manager a minimum of one month prior to their event, to discuss any additional requirements that may require resource consent.

Applications for the hire of the Hastings Sports Centre can be made to the Hastings Sports Centre manager via telephone 06 878 0051 or via email hastingssportscentre@hdc.govt.nz.

All users are also required to provide a bond which the Hastings District Council will hold until such time as the group discontinues use.

A booking will be deemed confirmed when the form is returned and on receipt of payment of the necessary bond.
