Havelock North Village Green

Image of Havelock North Village Green.

The Village Green is in the heart of Havelock North. It features one of the district’s three premier playgrounds, a large grassed open space, picnic tables, a skate park and a pavilion with an extensive paved area.

Playground equipment includes climbing frames, swings, extensive water play feature, slides, xylophone and roundabout.

Seating: Yes

Public toilets: Yes; closed at night

The entrances to the park are off Te Mata Rd, Napier Rd and Karanema Dr.

The Mackersey Family Pavilion

The pavilion is the former Havelock Village Green Cricket Pavilion, a historic building moved to its current site and refurbished in 2016/17.

Parts of the building are home to Plunket, the Toy Library and Run/Walk Hawke's Bay (Hastings). The main rooms are available for hire. They include kitchen and toilet facilities and, through French doors, open onto the pavilion’s large tiled outdoor area. The pavilion is suitable for small events such as children’s birthday parties, small private functions or community group gatherings.

A booking form with fee details is available via the button below.

Maintenance and development programmes for this park are governed by the Havelock North Domain Reserve Management Plan.

Green Flag 2018 2019 Social Media PostThe Village Green is a Green Flag Award-winning park. A Green Flag is an international mark of quality awarded to parks and reserves. There are 27 criteria against which they are judged, including management plans, community consultation and engagement processes, environmental and sustainability practices, horticultural management and succession planning, safety, and how accessible and welcoming they are to their communities. They are judged each year to ensure the parks are being consistently improved and continue to meet the needs of their communities.
