Objective Build

OBJ Build H 1

As at Tuesday 20 February 2024

Our new Building Consent application software Objective Build is here. This system has been built with input from more than 100 builders, architects, designers, and industry professionals across New Zealand to ensure it meets users’ needs. It enables the reuse of information across applications, means users can see the status of their building consent application and actions requiring updates; in short, managing a building consent right through its lifecycle.

The software connects to our existing system, but it does look a little different.

Getting started

For new Building Consent applications

If you’ve already got an Objective Build account with another council you can log into your existing account. From here you will be able to create a new application with Hastings District Council.

You can set up your account at any time. When you do we recommend that you use the email address you have used for other Hastings District Council Building Consent applications, so your existing information transfers to the system. If you need to use a different one, or have used more than on in the past, please contact us on 871 5000 with the information so we can collate your files.

If you are about to apply for a new Building Consent, have not used our system before, and don’t have an Objective Build account, click here to get started.

For existing Building Consent applications submitted prior to Monday 4 December 2023

If you submitted a Building Consent application prior to Monday 4 December, that is still being processed you will need to use the old system to access it and track the progress.

Click here to access the system.

Things to note

The new system has been designed to make the application process much easier, including automatically notifying you as each stage of the process is reached through the software (rather than by email). Apple phone users can access the programme’s App through the App Store.

Fees:
Building Consent application: $152 (including GST).
Building Consent amendment: $152 (including GST).

Yes. If you’re not sure how to or need some help, contact our team on 06 871 5000 and we can talk you through it.

You will no longer be able to request a printed version of your application. Of course, you are able to download it and print it yourself.

Building Consent application fees will cost $152 (including GST).A Building Consent amendment fee will also cost $152 (including GST).

These fees recover the cost of using the Objective Build platform. They are an increase from the previous system but they system is expected to save applicants’ time in administration, be much more stream-lined and user-responsive.

We wanted to make the Building Consent application process much easier. The software is used by 53 of the 61 district/city councils throughout New Zealand. The experience of those councils shows that it improves the ability to reuse information across applications, clearly see the status of a building consent application, action required updates, and manage a building consent throughout the lifecycle. It enables the reuse of information across applications, means users can see the status of their building consent application and actions requiring updates; in short, managing a building consent right through its lifecycle.
