Parks and reserves

Although most urban parks and reserves around Hastings are now safe and open, there are a few across the district that remain closed or partially closed, these include:

  • Tauroa Reserve – The upper-south end remains CLOSED due to lack of bridges. Lower Tauroa Reserve is OPEN as is the Tauroa Boardwalk.
  • Tainui Reserve – Hikanui Drive cul de sac entrance is CLOSED due to track damage.
  • Karituwhenua Stream walkway in Kingsgate Reserve - The gully track from Te Mata Road to Reeve Drive entrance is CLOSED. The upper track from Te Mata Road through reserve is OPEN.
  • Maraetotara Falls - Toilets and carpark available and waterfall is accessible. Track from waterfall to power station is OPEN. Track between power station and the lower entrance is CLOSED due to track damage.
  • Puketapu Park – OPEN. 
  • Eskdale ParkCLOSED until further notice.
