St Aubyn Street Reserve playground

HDC St Aubyn St Playground map 800x800pxNew playground on the way

A brand new playground on St Aubyn Street Reserve will be ready for action before the end of summer. Kids will be able to climb, swing, slide and spin on the new play equipment, or ride their bike or scooter around the perimeter of the playground. We are also adding seating, landscaping and a drinking fountain for park users.

The playground is being constructed within the broad ‘leg’ of the park which links Hinau St to the main grassed area of the park.

Having it sited in that area means it does not impact on the main park, which is occasionally used for winter sports and is also ideal for informal play such as kite flying and kicking a ball around.

It also means the playground will be able to be seen from the street and is overlooked by park neighbours, which enables passive surveillance.

Ground works started in early November. It had been hoped it would be open by Christmas, however wet weather in December has pushed the finish date out to early February.
