An upgrade to the playground at Havelock North’s Village Green is starting in August, in line with the Havelock North Domain Reserve Management Plan, as well as in response to regular requests from the local community.
The project includes:
Since the fully refurbished playground opened in 2017, the volume of use has exceeded all expectations, with the popular playground quickly cementing itself as one of the region’s premier destinations for young people of all ages and their families.
New play equipment, donated by the Mackersey family, has been chosen specifically to compliment that already on offer at the playground and includes a double seesaw and outdoor musical instruments.
The new playground surface will be made of recycled rubber tyres; similar to the surface used for the Cornwall Park playground.
Work is due to begin in the week of 22 August, at which time the playground will be temporarily closed. We thank you, in advance, for your patience during this upgrade.
Weather permitting, the upgrade is due to be completed mid-October
