Maraetotara Falls

One of Hastings' most beautiful natural treasures, Maraetotara Falls on the Maraetotara River is about 15 minutes’ drive from Havelock North, heading towards Waimārama. The reserve is about 1km long with a pretty waterfall at the top end and a heritage power station at the lower end.

It is a popular swimming spot and there is a walking track along the riverside.

Overnight camping in self-contained vehicles is permitted.

Seating: No

Public toilets: Yes (port-a-loos)

There are three entrances to the reserve, all off Maraetotara Rd.

Maintenance and development programmes for this reserve are governed by the District Wide Reserve Management Plan.
