The level of service and associated maintenance carried out on rural roads across the district is allocated based on the One Network Road Classification (ONCR) of each of the roads. This classification is based on how busy they are, whether they connect to important destinations, or are the only route available.
The types of work managed include but are not limited to road surface repairs, bridge repairs, culvert repairs, drain clearing, litter control, berm mowing and weed control.
Council aims to achieve an appropriate level of service balanced against cost, and to enable work to be prioritised focusing on the outcome to the user.
For a map indicating the levels of service across the district's rural roads, see the 'related documents' section on this page.
