Beautiful Hastings page banner

There is no doubt Hastings is beautiful, from our amazing beaches, natural reserves and our iconic Te Mata Peak, to our parks, villages and city centre, all bathed in our stunning climate. And we have the award to prove it: the Keep NZ Beautiful Supreme Award 2020.

But we all need to work together to keep it that way. And it does take all of us – our Council teams and our whole community.

Our staff teams tend our parks, sweep the streets, plan our beautiful inner-city spaces, manage our rubbish and waste streams, keep our infrastructure up-to-date, and more.

Plus we have amazing volunteer groups (more than 20 of them) who help plant our reserves, parks and stream-sides, heaps of community input into our plans for parks and urban spaces, and very many individuals and groups who take the time to clear up litter.

Together our efforts have helped our community win Keep New Zealand Beautiful Awards. While those awards celebrate natural and built spaces, they are especially focused on the efforts councils and communities put in to keeping them beautiful and sustainable.

We thank you all and encourage everyone to take it up a notch, particularly by not dropping litter.  If we don’t drop it, no-one will need to pick it up!
