Event Support Fund

Hastings District Council's Event Support Fund is available to organisations and not-for-profit community groups hosting events across Hastings district. Applications for financial support can be made at any time of year but must be made two months prior to the event date, and ideally two months before the event is publicly advertised.

The Event Support Fund is available to organisations planning events in the Hastings District that are in line with Council’s Event Strategy and the Toi-Tū Arts and Culture Framework.

All applications must be submitted via the online grants portal.

The Event Support Fund is currently closed due to applications received exceeding the available funding. 

What are our funding priorities:

  • Large events that are of Regional and National Significance
  • Local events that are low cost or free to access
  • Community led events run by not-for-profit and charitable organisations
  • Events that are accessible to the wider community and encourage participation from across diverse communities
  • High profile community events that contribute to the economic development of the district
  • Events that take place within the Hastings district boundaries and benefit significant numbers of Hastings residents
  • Events that are in line with Council’s Event Strategy and the Toi-Tū Arts and Culture Framework.

What we don’t fund:

  • Private functions
  • Events that promote religious, ministry or political purposes
  • Events run solely for commercial profit or individual gain
  • Events that denigrate, exclude or offend parts of the community
  • Events that present a hazard to the community or pose a significant risk to the public or council
  • Events that have already been held and retrospective costs
  • Events that have breached previous funding agreements with the council, including post-event reporting criteria.

Contact:

Hastings District Council supports a number of large scale events including, Horse of the Year, the HB Arts Festival, Art Deco, HB Marathon, Nest Fest, New Zealand Cider Festival, Outfield Music and Matariki to name a few. For more information on these large-scale, regionally significant, events please contact Council's Event Manager.
