Rates Remission

Council offers a range of rate remissions under its Rate Remission and Postponement Policy. This includes:

• Community, sporting and other organisations not operating for private pecuniary profit,
• New developments which are likely to create significant employment opportunities,
• Voluntarily protected land which is being used for natural, historic, heritage, cultural or conservation purposes,
• Penalty charges where ratepayers are in financial difficulty or to facilitate settlement of rates,
• Non-contiguous rating units where multiple rating units are under the same ownership and are used jointly as a single property,
• Natural calamity where a natural event affects the use of the land,
• Extreme financial hardship where a ratepayer's ability to pay is severely hampered under certain circumstances,
• *Sundry remissions in relation to fixed charges applied in respect of any additional rating unit (dependent member, incapable of being inhabited or used by an employee as they are considered essential for the on-going running of the business). *Application Form required
• Refuse collection, if you choose to receive a reduced level of service, you may also pay a reduced refuse rate.
