Ongoing rain has continued to make life a little tricky however it is not expected to impact on the overall time frame.
Work on the new roundabout on State Highway 2 is ongoing, which means traffic will continue to be confined to the two temporary lanes. That situation is expected to carry on over the next few weeks. As previously, we are asking that everyone takes extra care at the State Highway 2 end of the project because of the narrow carriageway. The small temporary roundabout at the intersection of Pilcher Rd remains in place.
Surveying work on Pilcher Rd, advised in the last update, has been completed and the speed limit has returned to 80kmh at the SH2 end, graduating to 100kmh.
Work around the area where the new bridge will cross the Karamu Stream is continuing with piling and reinforced earth works underway. Once that is complete the company building the bridge will move into the area.
Anyone who is particularly impacted by these works will be individually contacted, however if you have questions please don’t hesitate to call the project managers: Leslie van Heerden or Louis Meyer on 835 7288, or phone Hastings District Council: 871 5000.
