Winter weather continues to make things tricky for the contractors working on the Whakatu Arterial Link route however the teams continue to push on.
One layer of asphalt has been laid along the last third of the new roundabout on State Highway 2. The second and third layers will have to wait until the weather improves.
In the meantime the teams are continuing to work on the storm water system, finishing the ducting for the power for streetlights, and footpaths at the roundabout.
About 60 per cent of the new streetlights at the new roundabout are installed and operational.
Work across the main route through the paddocks has ceased for winter as planned, and is unlikely to resume until late August/early September.
The construction of the bridge over the Karamu Stream at the Pakowhai Rd end of the project is going to plan, with a start on putting the spans on the piles timed for mid-August, depending on the weather.
