The last of the work to install a new water main under Te Mata Rd is underway.
This involves a closure of one lane of Te Mata Rd for three days, from this afternoon (February 20) until Friday evening.
Uphill traffic is being detoured through St Hill Lane, along Brookvale Rd, into Guthrie Rd, and back onto Te Mata Rd.
During this time the last of the open trench is being excavated, the pipe laid, the trench filled and the road re-sealed.
By Saturday it is expected that Te Mata Rd will be back to two lanes with a small section of pipelaying, manholes, connections and tidy up work to complete.
St Hill Lane is also expected to be back to two lanes by Friday, but there will be a period of two days in two to three weeks’ time when it will have to revert to one lane for connection work.
We thank you for your patience during this critical work designed to build resilience and capacity into our drinking water system.
