Holiday fun at Hastings libraries

Where did summer go? With the autumn school holidays on our doorstep, the Hastings Libraries team has been beavering away to put together an exciting programme of holiday activities.

These fun free events take place across all three libraries: Flaxmere Library, Havelock North Library and Hastings War Memorial Library. So if you’re wondering what to do with the kids over the holidays, the library is sure to have something to spark their interest.

There are plenty of activities to bring out your child’s creativity starting off with an Easter Egg Hunt at Hastings library.

Kids can make their own musical instruments, or have a go at Mini-Movie Set Making at Hastings Library. If that hits the spot, they can try their hand at Stop Motion Movie Making too. The movies continue at Flaxmere Library for our ever-popular movie sessions which the whole family can enjoy.

All three libraries have Art Sleuthing running through the holidays, as well as a changing range of Maker Spaces that both adults and kids can enjoy whenever you drop in.

A highlight of the holidays is Marvellous Magic and Stupendous Storytelling, an enchanting evening with The Great Wardini at Havelock North Library. Places are limited, registration is required for this event.

The teens haven’t been forgotten, with something on at each library to keep the older kids happy, including Book Art, a Polymer Clay Workshop and a Chat and Paint session. Chat and Paint will require registration via the library website or pop in and talk to the friendly staff.
