Whakatu Arterial Link Update - 6 November 2017

Work on the new Whakatu Arterial Link route continues to progress well.

Almost a year in, it is still expected that the project will be completed by December next year.

The State Highway 2 roundabout is substantially complete with the new Pilcher Rd leg expected to be open towards the end of this month. Landscaping of the ‘legs’ and main part of the roundabout has also been done.

The tidying up in front of Mangateretere School is being completed, including gardens, grassing and footpaths.

Work on the second roundabout (the ‘peanut’ at Whakatu) has been started, with an expected finish date of late February.

The new bridge over the Karamu Stream is also on target, with about 70 per cent of the work completed. The deck of the bridge is in place, with barriers and handrails now being installed. It should be fully completed early next month
